Founded in 2013 by Will Shu and Greg Orlowski in London, Deliveroo was created after Will, a banker who had just moved to London, was frustrated by the lack of good food delivery options from quality restaurants in the city. He began delivering food himself on a bicycle to understand the business before building the technology platform. Deliveroo operates in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, and Kuwait, partnering with over 160,000 restaurants. The company pioneered the restaurant-quality food delivery model in Europe and went public on the London Stock Exchange in March 2021. Deliveroo also offers Deliveroo Plus, a subscription service, and HOP, a network of grocery delivery dark stores.

Will Shu is the co-founder and CEO of Deliveroo. An American-born former investment banker at Morgan Stanley, Will moved to London and was shocked by the poor quality of food delivery options available. Before writing a single line of code, he spent months personally delivering food on a bicycle across London to deeply understand the logistics and customer experience. This hands-on approach shaped Deliveroo's obsession with delivery speed and food quality, distinguishing it from competitors in the crowded European food delivery market.
Greg Orlowski
Co-Founder / CTO
Greg Orlowski is the co-founder and former CTO of Deliveroo. A software engineer with experience at several London-based tech companies, Greg built Deliveroo's original technology platform and logistics algorithm that powers real-time order routing and delivery time predictions. He played a key role in scaling the engineering team and platform in Deliveroo's early high-growth phase before departing to pursue other ventures in the startup ecosystem.
