Turso

SQLite for the edge.

Series AW2023Developer ToolsDatabaseEdge ComputingSQLiteturso.tech

Founded in 2022 by Glauber Costa and other co-founders in San Francisco, Turso was built on the insight that SQLite is an extraordinary database that almost nobody uses for web applications, despite being the most widely deployed database in the world in embedded contexts. Turso forked SQLite as LibSQL, added replication, HTTP access, and edge deployment, and built a platform that brings SQLite's simplicity and embeddability to web applications running at the edge. The company raised $32 million in 2024 and has found strong traction among developers building applications on Cloudflare Workers, Vercel Edge Functions, and other edge runtimes where full Postgres databases are too heavy.

Glauber Costa

Founder / CEO

Glauber Costa is the co-founder and CEO of Turso. He previously worked as a Linux kernel engineer at RedHat and as a distributed systems engineer at ScyllaDB. He founded Turso after becoming fascinated by the potential of SQLite as a web database once it could be made accessible via HTTP and deployed at the edge — a vision that is now being validated by the explosive growth of edge computing platforms.
