Stytch
Flexible auth infrastructure built for developers.
Founded in 2020 by Reed McGinley-Stempel and Julianna Lamb in San Francisco through Y Combinator, Stytch was built to modernize authentication by making passwordless login the default rather than the exception. The two co-founders previously worked at Plaid, where they experienced the friction that bad authentication experiences create for users and developers. Stytch provides a comprehensive authentication platform covering magic links, biometrics, SMS OTP, OAuth, TOTP, and B2B enterprise SSO — all through a single unified API. The company raised $90 million in 2022 at a $1 billion valuation and serves thousands of companies including Vercel, Stedi, and Spring Health who need flexible, developer-friendly authentication infrastructure that works across consumer, SMB, and enterprise use cases.

Founder / CEO
Reed McGinley-Stempel is the co-founder and CEO of Stytch. He previously worked as an engineer at Plaid, where he built financial data integrations and saw how authentication friction was one of the biggest barriers to fintech adoption. Reed co-founded Stytch to build the authentication infrastructure layer he always wished existed — one flexible enough to support every authentication pattern a modern application might need without locking developers into a rigid opinionated system.
