Framer
The website builder for creative professionals.
Founded in 2013 by Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Framer began as a prototyping tool for designers before making a bold pivot in 2022 to become a full website builder. The new Framer positioned itself as the design-first alternative to Webflow — offering a Figma-like canvas experience that designers could use to build and publish production websites directly, without involving a developer. This pivot resonated immediately with the design community and Framer grew explosively, reaching 50,000 active projects within months of the relaunch. The company raised funding from Accel and Index Ventures and has become one of the most talked-about design tools in the developer and designer community, particularly popular for portfolio sites, landing pages, and marketing websites.
