Founded in 2012 by George Fraser and Taylor Brown in Oakland, California, Fivetran was built to solve the most tedious and error-prone part of the modern data stack — getting data from its source to your data warehouse. Before Fivetran, data engineering teams spent enormous time building and maintaining custom ETL pipelines that broke constantly as source APIs changed. Fivetran provides over 500 pre-built, fully managed connectors that automatically handle schema changes, API updates, and data type normalization. The company raised $565 million in 2021 at a $5.6 billion valuation. Fivetran powers the data pipelines of over 5,000 companies including Autodesk, JetBlue, and DocuSign, processing petabytes of data every month with zero engineering maintenance required.

George Fraser

Founder / CEO

George Fraser is the co-founder and CEO of Fivetran. He studied computer science at UC Berkeley and began building Fivetran as a Y Combinator project in 2013. George's original insight — that data replication should be a fully automated zero-maintenance service — has proven to be one of the most valuable ideas in the modern data stack. Under his leadership, Fivetran has become the default data movement platform for thousands of data-driven companies worldwide, simplifying the previously painful process of keeping data warehouses up to date.
