Founded in 2022 by Greg Schoeninger and Caleb Fahlgren in San Francisco, Oxen.ai was built to solve the critical missing infrastructure in AI development: version control for data. Every AI model is only as good as its training data, but while code has Git, datasets have nothing — engineers resort to naming files with dates, keeping spreadsheets of dataset versions, or building fragile custom scripts. Oxen.ai brings the Git experience to datasets of any size, enabling teams to track changes, branch datasets, compare versions, and collaborate on data the same way they collaborate on code. The company raised seed funding from Y Combinator and has attracted customers across enterprise AI teams and research organizations.

Greg Schoeninger is the co-founder and CEO of Oxen.ai. He previously worked as an engineer and applied machine learning scientist at several technology companies. He founded Oxen after repeatedly watching AI teams struggle with the fundamental problem of tracking what data produced which model — a problem that costs enormous time and causes reproducibility failures across the industry.
